My favorite weekend activity...
The Ferry Building Farmers Market. I grew up going to the Ferry Building on weekends. When I was younger I would take my fiddle and go out on the streets, bussing with my older and younger siblings. Nowadays, I love walking around from booth to booth sampling, apples, orange juice, honey sticks, olive oil, and toffee (our favorite)!
This past Saturday, all the booths were selling oranges since it's citrus season. It's crazy how many different places there are to get oranges from! Nils and I were talking about how lucky we are to live in such a diverse place, where we can choose from 50 different groves to get our oranges from. I'd say we're pretty spoiled! On Saturday, we walked around from booth to booth sampling their fruit. Each one trying to convince us that they had the sweetest, ripest, juiciest orange we had ever tasted. I will admit, there were a few that stood out to me, but overall they were all just so good. In the end, we had each easily eaten one or two oranges just from samples alone. :))
One last thing that I love about the SF Farmers Market, is their selection of fresh flowers. Last weekend, the flower stands were all filled with bright pink, red, and orange tulips. After my swooning all over them, Nils bought me a bunch of bright orange tulips that are still going strong.
The next time you find yourself in SF on a Saturday, you should go visit the Ferry Building! I promise it won't disappoint you. If I didn't persuade you, they have $3 all day parking in the Washington & Embarcadero Lot if you get it validated at the Farmers Market Stand.
Hope you have a great Tuesday!
